Consultant Petrophysicist (Rotational)
15 Oct
2024
WeConnect Energy is currently recruiting for a Consultant Petrophysicist (on a rotational basis) on behalf of our client, an E&P Operator based in Europe, focused on a project in North Africa.
The ideal candidate will have significant petrophysics experience, ideally in the MENA region. To confirm, this role is initially a twelve-month contract position.
The purpose of the role is:
To support our client's Joint Venture, providing high quality petrophysical support to production and development activities.
Work closely across the Subsurface team, collaborating with the G&G and RE disciplines to ensure consistency across interpretations.
Supervise ongoing operations within the field.
Responsibilities
Regional design, plan and conduct integrated petrophysical interpretation (advanced and quick look) of well logs in development and potentially exploration wells.
Create reservoir summaries sorted by zone, project and cutoff levels by integrating all available well data, identify mineralogy and lithology, locate and quantify the hydrocarbon bearing reservoir rocks: porosity, water saturation, net pay, fluid type, estimating permeability and finally reporting the conclusions.
Collaborate in the well data acquisition, choice of logging tools, and design of the logging program for the Algerian exploration and development wells.
Participate in the technical bid preparation, evaluation, recommendation, awarding, management, supervision and follow up of contracts for an effective electrical logging acquisition and petrophysical interpretation.
Management, coordination, and supervision of logging operations. Provide assistance to supervise, QC and validate execution of logging operations and onsite log interpretations.
Supervise the identification and picking of formation tops, reservoir zonation and well-to-well geological correlation.
Participate in the selection of the acquisition of wireline pressure points, fluid samples, sidewall cores and intervals to be perforated, tested and completed. Follow-up testing and completion operations.
Validation of raw log data, checking the data is properly acquired, labelled and indexed. Log editing, depth matching, log normalization and core-to-log correlation. Ensure the technical integrity and quality of discipline work and databases maintenance.
Integrate and align the work with other disciplines involved in drilling operations: operation geologists, geophysicists, HSSE, logistics, drilling, reservoir and production engineers.
Provide petrophysical input and support to production assets in reservoir geological description, conventional and special core analyses, rock mechanical analysis and seismic rock properties studies.
Keep informed about development on new electrical logging technologies and petrophysical interpretation. Promote the introduction of new technologies where relevant and justifiable.
Proven track record for use of general petrophysical tools and skills: Formation evaluation, advanced well-logging interpretation (NMR, PLT, Image, Sonic, Cased hole saturation logs), core data analysis & integration.
Preferred Experience
10+ years’ experience in logging technology, including log acquisition, processing, and interpretation (preferably in onshore and shallow water areas).
Experience working across multiple countries and basins across the full E&P lifecycle.
Experience with clastic reservoirs.
Experience with well operations (logging, geosteering).
Knowledge of automation and digital ways of working.
Knowledge of vendor tools and different data acquisition practices.
Experience with integrated petrophysical studies and modelling.
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and collaborations with other subsurface disciplines.
High level of English with excellent communication skills.
