Senior Civil/Structural Engineer - Renewables

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to join our client's team in Oman, focusing on renewable energy projects (solar PV and wind). The successful candidate will lead Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and be responsible for all aspects of civil and structural design, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Engineering:

  • Lead the FEED process for renewable energy projects, ensuring robust civil and structural designs.

  • Responsible for grading, structural design verification, plan & profile drawings, foundation design, and all associated calculations.

  • Review and approve material specifications and equipment vendor drawings for major components.

  • Develop construction specifications, ensuring adherence to project requirements and industry standards.

• Site & Project Coordination:

  • Conduct site visits to verify compliance with engineering design drawings.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including Electrical, Mechanical, and Project Managers, to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Support project planning and scheduling with insights into civil and structural engineering considerations.

• Structural & Foundation Design:

  • Review and design foundation layouts for PV solar tracker structures and wind turbines.

  • Ensure structural integrity of foundations, taking into account geotechnical assessments and load calculations.

  • Optimize tracker foundation marking, considering ground levels, robotic cleaning systems, and movement constraints.

  • Assess and incorporate wind turbine foundation stability and load distribution factors.

• Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure designs comply with local regulations, international standards (IEC, ASTM, Eurocode, etc.), and HSE requirements.

  • Review contractor submittals, method statements, and work plans for civil works.

  • Identify risks and mitigation strategies related to geotechnical, structural, and construction aspects.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.

• 8+ years of experience in civil & structural engineering within the renewable energy sector (solar PV and wind).

• Strong expertise in FEED, foundation design, and structural analysis.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, PLS-CADD, or similar structural analysis software.

• Experience with geotechnical assessments, material selection, and construction methodologies.

• Knowledge of tracker structures, robotic cleaning integration, and wind turbine foundation design is a plus.

• Strong communication and project coordination skills.
